At LWWC we believe.......
In salvation through Jesus Christ who provided the ultimate sacrifice for sin.
John 3:3 NIV
Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again."
John 3:16 NIV
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:17 NIV
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Romans 10:13 NIV
For "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God---not by works, so that no one can boast.
In divine healing for the sick as provided in Christ's death
James 5:14-16 NIV
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
In the second coming of Christ (Rapture) as He returns for those who have accepted Him.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 NIV
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 NIV
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed--- In a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.
In the baptism in the Holy Spirit for empowering believers.
Acts 1:8 NIV
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Acts 2:4 NIV
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
Acts 2:17-18 NIV
"In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
Acts 2:38-39 NIV
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call."
The Bible is the inspired, infallible word of God and is the only true, holy standard for measuring faith and conduct.
Praise and worship
We believe that God takes great delight in praise and worship, and they are a very important part of our services.
Psalm 33:1 NIV
Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise Him.
Psalm 92:1 NIV
It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High,
Psalm 147:1 NIV
Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!
We encourage freedom in worship, and each sincere expression is welcomed and appreciated. Our praise and worship may include.....
1. Clapping hands while singing. The clapping of hands is also used as a form of adoration to God, showing approval and pleasure in Him and His work in the church.
Psalm 47:1 NIV
Clap your hands, all nations; shout to God with cries of joy.
2. Raised hands is another expression of worship. The raising of hands by believers is an outward sign of surrender to God and his will.
Psalms 63:4 NIV
I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands
Psalm 134:2 NIV
Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord.
These visible expressions are not for show, but as avenues for communing with God.
3. Standing during praise and worship. The congregation shows reverence to God and makes a sacrifice of praise by standing during the praise and worship time
Psalm 134:1-3 NIV
Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord who minister by night in the house of the Lord. Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord. May the Lord bless you from Zion, He who is the maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 135:2-3 NIV
You who minister in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of God. Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.
